This series comprises publications pertaining to India and various mission work and church projects taking place there. They were retained by the office of the Secretary for South Asia, South Pacific, and Madagascar of The American Lutheran Church's (TALC) Division for World Mission and Inter-Church Cooperation. These publications were ones which the office used in the course of completing its tasks related to work in India, as well as those sent to it by organizations in India with which TALC cooperated in mission projects. They are from 1960-1987 and are mostly bound booklets. The publications are organized into either by publishing institution, or by which institution's work was profiled in the material. Organizations represented include Andhra Christian Theological College, United Evangelical Lutheran Church of India, Gurukul Theological College and Research Institute, and Christian Medical College and Hospital. Booklets include annual reports for institutions, commemorative anniversary booklets, findings from studies conducted, informational or promotional booklets, and newsletters. Files are arranged alphabetically by subject.

The American Lutheran Church (1961-1987) was formed by the merger of the American Lutheran Church (1930-1960), the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church. Representatives from each of the constitutent churches formed the Joint Union Committee in 1950 to effect the merger. Presidents of the constituent bodies at the merger were Henry F.
